Product Details

A foaming facial cleanser is ideal for removing excess dirt & oil but it’s important to choose a formula that won’t disrupt the skin’s natural protective barrier. It’s also beneficial to choose a gentle cleanser with ingredients that help maintain moisture balance.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser was developed with dermatologists to deeply cleanse, remove excess oil and refresh the skin without over-stripping it or leaving it feeling tight and dry. CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser features Skin-Identical Ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide to help restore the skin’s barrier, retain hydration and help soothe the skin. In sum, this gel-based foaming cleanser is an effective yet non-irritating way to start off any skincare regimen for normal to oily skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The Foaming Cleanser is safe for dry skin. While it's primarily designed for normal to oily skin to effectively cleanse, some with dry skin may use it if they follow with a rich moisturizer. However, for dry skin, we typically recommend CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser, which is formulated to cleanse without stripping moisture, leaving skin hydrated and comfortable. Very dry skin can benefit from CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil with squalane oil, know to help retain moisture.
  • This cleanser gently refreshes and effectively removes excess oil, dirt, and makeup. For exfoliating benefits, you might prefer CeraVe SA Cleanser formulated with salicylic acid.
  • Yes. The Foaming Facial Cleanser is formulated for normal-to-oily skin and is a dermatologist-recommended cleanser for oily and combination types. The non-comedogenic cleanser removes excess oil without stripping the skin, and includes ceramides, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to support the skin barrier while it cleanses.
  • Choose based on how your skin feels. Oily, combination, or breakout-prone skin generally does better with the Foaming cleanser; dry, sensitive, or mature skin tends to prefer the Hydrating Cleanser.
  • Cleanser is your first step. Use it morning and night before serums, treatments, and moisturizer. In the evening, if you wear makeup or sunscreen, include a make-up remover or micellar as a first step to break down product, then the Hydrating cleanser to clean the skin underneath.
  • Pump it once and massage it into wet skin with your fingertips for about 20 seconds is plenty. A cleansing brush or washcloth is not necessary and can be too abrasive for daily use. Rinse with lukewarm water as hot water can leave skin feeling tight.
  • Yes. The formula is fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and developed with dermatologists. Most sensitive-skin users tolerate it well, some users might also like a cream or hydrating cleanser.
  • Three skin-identical ceramides, hyaluronic acid for hydration, and
2% niacinamide to help calm the skin. There are no added fragrances or harsh sulfates.
